Here’s a great story about how a team of writers blogging together ended up with a book…and book deals. Actually, fantasy basketball posts on a message board led to a group of bloggers putting a book together. This led to two more books about basketball. You can read about Jessie Einhorn and his friends here.
“The Undisputed Guide To Pro Basketball History,” a new book co-authored byEinhorn is a follow-up to FreeDarko’s (a famed basketball blogging collective) first work, The Macrophenominal Pro Basketball Almanac. Both books were authored by the blog members writing under names that they’d chosen for themselves as fantasy basketball players: Bethlehem Shoals is the moniker of Nathaniel Friedman. Big Baby Belafonte is Jacob Weinstein, Brown Recluse Esq., is Todd Ito, Dr. Lawyer Indian Chief is Adam Waytz, and Silverbird 5,000 is Einhorn.
You just never know where a blog or posts in a message board can lead. The more you post, the more platform you build–the more you promote yourself and your writing. Your blog or blogged book could get you a book deal or simply get you a readership that makes blogging or blogging a book worthwhile–or self-publishing a book based upon your blog or blogged book.
