Publisher’s Marketplace reports that 100 blog or Internet-related books were picked up last year. Most of them were not-so-worth-reading blog-to-book deals.
According to Wall Street Journal’s Andy Jordan’s latest Tech Diary, publishers admit that bloggers with large readership allow them have a form of market research previously unavailable. If Internet readers flock to a blog, they assume book readers will do the same.
The peak for books comprised of entries from other people–not actually blogged books but books consisting of photos, tweets, etc., submitted by people other than the author–has supposedly passed. That leaves room for actual blogged books to come into their own.
Provide great copy and a huge readership and you will get noticed.
